  Problem: time line play back to both canvas and ext monitor

  I have a problem playing back a DV NTSC sequence in the time line. It plays back in the canvas but very jittery and it doesn’t play back to my external monitor at all. When I play the clip back in the viewer it plays well both in the viewer and on the external monitor. FCP came back and said that I had to lower the real time effects as it appeared that playing back the clip was taking too much RAM. I changed the settings in the system settings to “RT safe” and “Video quality Low”, but it still happens. I have also tried to reboot the computer several times without any luck.

  I am using a FCP4.5HD on a G4 DP1.25, 1gig RAM, OS10.3.5 connecting a DSR11 to a Sony monitor. Thanks in advance.

  I made a typo before as I am running OS10.3.9. I upgraded recently from OS10.3.8 that worked great for months and months. I wonder if there is a bug in the OS10.3.9?

  Make sure the canvas is set to “fit to window”
