I have been using cinema tool to do my reverse telecine. After Telecine I get my 30NDF DVCAM tape, dig it, reverse Telecine 3:2 pulldown and it plays perfect in my 23.98 seq.
I have one tape that after I dig it, I do a reverse telecine but the 2:3:2:3 reverse telecine dialog box will only appear. An of course that will not play back properly. Why can’t I do the 3:2 pull down on this media.

3:2 qnd 2:3:2:3 are exactly the same pulldown pattern. Are you doing the rev telecine in Cinema Tools. Is your cadence set right? Is it 24p media on tape? Tell us more about what you’re doing and then we can help better.

I am doing the rev telecine in Cinema tools 2.2. It has been telecined to DVCAM at 30NDF. My dailies are from 35 4perf dropped to DVCAM. I dig @ 29.97 on the DSR 1800 in FCP 4.5 HD. I do the reverse in cinema tools. Every time I have done this the pop-up to remove the 3:2 comes up, I remove it and use that new media The Identify is perfect. Now after I dig this one tape I do the reverse and the dialog box comes up to remove the 2:3:2:3, when I click OK it will not play back properly in my 23.98 seq. All my zero keycodes are at A frames. When I jog frames off the deck the letters read 00a 01b 02c_ 03D_ 03D 04A 05b 06c_ 07D_ 07D 08A ect.
What is weird is I have never seen that Dialog box about the 2:3:2:3. I have 60 hours of film transfer, 80 flex files, and this is the only time I have encountered this 2:3:2:3. Every time it has been the option to remove the 3:2 pulldown.

I need to create a film list for my neg cutter but this media is not playing back with the pulldown removed so my clip is slipped when I Identify on the A frame 2 sec in after the hole punch. My neg list is incorrect. I am on my way to the Telecine house tonight to retransfer, but I am not sure what the problem really is. What should I ask my Telecine op.

I don’t know! I’ve never seen CT do that. I’ve only removed telecine from video files that don’t have any burned in code or anything, so I’ve had to go in by hand and find myself where the A frames are and practically everything by hand. And indeed, that’s my only other suggestion – to take that movie clip into CT by hand, and set up the rev telecine parameters yourself. Other than that I’m stumped.
