Export Premiere Batch List to FCP??
Can anyone tell me how to export a batch list from Adobe Premiere 6.5 to Final Cut Pro 4? The batchlist export capabilities of Premiere seem fairly primitive — I can’t get the duration column to even export, and FCP seems to require that column. So I’m not sure this can be done, but I’d really love to hear that it can be.

This should work for Adobe Premiere 6.5, but is what I use to do for Media100.
1. Drag all you clips to a timeline/sequence in Premiere.
2. Export the timeline/sequence just like an edited cuts only program using CMX 3600 EDL.
3. Import the EDL into FCP to create a sequence.
4. Drag all the clips from the newly created sequence to a new bin and your ins, outs and durations will automatically be created.
5. Batch digitize
Caveats:
A. Make sure your reel numbers are no more than the 8 characters that the CMX 3600 allows.
B. You will have to manually put your log notes and good take indicators back in manually.
I’m sure there may be some more esoteric methodologies but this is my no-brainer solution.

Okay. I exported the Premiere clips from a timeline as a CMX 3600 EDL. But when I moved the file to the Mac and tried to open the .edl file with Final Cut Pro, I got the error message “Edit Decision List Badly Formatted.” Hmmmmm.
I was curious as to the difference between the FCP EDL and the CMX 3600 EDL, so I thought I would export an EDL from a FCP project and open it up and have a look. I selected “Export as EDL” on the FCP pulldown menu, and was offered an options box, as well as a folder to save the EDL. I selected my options and folder, but when I pressed “SAVE”, nothing happened. The options box just closed. Which struck me as rather odd. Since the FCP and Mac are brand new and we’ve not seen any problems with hard or software yet, this seems like a settings issue.
Any further thoughts?

There is not a chance that the Preimere Pro export settings are setting to AAF (Advanced Authoring Format)? The clips are on V1 end to end and not stacked on the timeline? There are no more audio tracks than A1, A2, A3 and A4?

Hi there
I have had trouble with creating batch list and edl from adobe premiere cs4 to fcp 7. I seem to be bumping my head with hundreds of error reports. FCP keeps asking me to select a translation document or just keeps telling me that there is an edl import error. What am i doing wrong? Can anyone help?

Premiere Pro CS5 supports FCP XML export which might be useful to you.
