I’m working on a standard DVPAL project. Shot on DVPAL, DVPAL sequence – just like I have done successfully many times before.

All looks good on my external monitor but when exported as a DVPAL QT and viewed with Quicktime, the text and graphics (imported via photoshop) look less than ideal, especially when moving. In fact they look like they have lost half the resolution, very similar to having been deinterlaced.

Any ideas how to optimise text for quicktime delivery – the final delivery will be as a Sorenson3 QTmovie?

I think you have to have the Pro version of Quicktime for this but you’ll find that there’s a check box for ‘High quality’ in the movie’s properties (Apple key + J) under video track.
That should give you the quality you’re looking for.

Best guide with text is to avoid detailed, complex fonts with serifs. If unavoidable try applying a 1 or 2 pixel blur (some people like to blur vertical only) to stop field flickering.
