When we import XDCAM EX files into M100 HD choosing M100 native codec,
    imported clips are playing perfectly…
as M100 codec is very heavy, we have tried to use Apple Pro Res (HQ) and Apple Pro Res.
In both cases imported clips have some problems when playing: when playing from the bin,
after a short moment images start to slow down and an error message appears “real-time playback errors…” ,
when playing from the timeline same slowing down of the images but a different message when stop,
asking to render the clips… and there’s nothing to render as the clip has already be rendered when importing it…
problem appears in different part of the clips, it depends where you start playing,
and short clips seems to have less problems…
In QT player we are able to play the same clips without problem.
    Thanks for any suggestions…

Problem is that ProRes is pretty CPU-intense. You should open the Activity Monitor from the Applications->Utilities folder and look at the CPU usage during playback of ProRes clips. Not sure what CPU you have, but since you are on HDx you most likely only have a dual-core system which probably is not fast enough to decode the clips. ProRes is heavily optimized for Intel CPUs…

    Thanks for your suggestion… we have a G5 with a Dual 2 GHz processor…

We have checked the CPU usage during the playback of Apple Pro Res clips

and CPU reaches 100% usage… do you think that a Dual 2.5 GHz processor
will be fast enough in order avoid this problem?

My Dual 2.7 GHz Power PC G5 barely plays Apple ProRes, but with titles and color corrected clips the CPU reaches 100%. For a smooth playback these would have to be rendered. Also make shure that no other applications are using CPU resources (can also be checked in the Activity Monitor).
My 2.4GHz Intel core 2 Duo MacBook Pro is fast enough for ProRes playback, so as Floh says – ProRes likes Intel.

Not really sure, but I guess not. You could use e.g. DVCProHD codec on your G5 system as a test. While it is not full raster it usually gives relatively good results, and it is much easier on the CPU.
