So correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t see a way of importing 720P 25 clips from XDCAM into Media 100?
Seems to me the only way is to acquire through FCP, then import to Media 100. Is this correct, or am I missing something?

M100 does not play XDcam codec it has to be transcoded, I use ProresHQ.

Or you can digitize to 720p 50 in M100.

I have the HDx board but I can acquire progressive EX media through the Sony Transfer software but the HDx board can’t play progressive video. The only way I can see it is in the small source or record monitors. There should be no problem however with the new AJA board.

Thanks chaps. I’m aware M100 doesn’t use the XDCAM codec & I use the Sony transfer app, but regardless of which codec I select in M100 (normally DVCPRO HD or Uncompressed 8 bit) all I get is a black screen & usually M100 crashes! No problems however when importing 1080i clips?

Yes but Chris, that was my point. It isn’t the XDCAM media that is the problem for you as you have the Sony Transfer, it’s the progressive video if you have the HDx board. That will not output progressive. If you have the AJA board then the problem lies elsewhere.

Thanks Michael I understand the HDx issue. I was using producer for this test…?

OK…that makes a little more sense. I wasn’t sure how the problem you were complaining about jived with the config in the signature in your posts.

If you’re using Producer, I assume the config does NOT match that which is your signature.

What are the specs in this situation?

    Computer:
    OS version:
    Producer version:
    QT version:
    Sony XDCAM Transfer version:

Also, what does Sony XDCAM Transfer say about the file (Information>Video) as compared to the FrameSize/FrameRate/Codec (put bin in list view) when it gets into Media 100?

Reluctant to replace HDx board with AJA on main system as HDx scaling is so good! So use Producer for HD only projects.

Computer: MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz Intel Core Duo, 4Gb ram.
    OS version: 10.5.6
    Producer version: 12.7
    QT version: 7.6
    Sony XDCAM Transfer version: 2.7.0

    XDCAM Transfer info:
    Video Format: MPEG HD
    Bit Rate: 35 Mbps (VBR)
    Frame Rate: 25p (25.00p)
    Aspect Ratio: 16:9
    Frame Size: 1280 x 720
Codec: Apple XDCAM EX 720p (35 Mb/s VBR)

    Media 100 Bin info:
    Frame Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate:25 fps
Codec:YUV422 or Motion Jpeg or DVCPRO
