I’ve got a 3 minute promo coming from M100 8.2.2. I have QT 6.5 pro. What are the optimum settings for a downloadable file from the web – ie:
    What file type(mov etc)
    What file size (in mb)
    What movie size in pixels
    What frame rate
Thanks for you time and knowledge – kind regards, Chris K.

What is your target audience? Win or Mac users? Do you want to target a broad base of computer users or a smaller, more controllable audience? For a maximum range you can use MPEG1 at 384*288, for a better image quality and reduced compatability you should use something based on H.264

This is probably a question better suited for the Compression Techniques forum.

    A question that might make a difference…

    1) Who is Target audience?
    > high end user where quality is everything and their connection is fast.
    to
    >phone modem user where getting the 3min message is important and a reasonably small file for download is paramount.

Often I will encode and embed Flash and will have a downloadable WMV available for slower connections.

You may want to include the Flip4Mac product to encode WMV from QTPro.

Not a complete answer but hopefully a start in the right direction.

    Cheers,

    Joe

I like MPGEG 1 also – I have not been as happy with the results from Flip4Mac at least from
    my G4.

What do people prefer to use for encoding Flash video?

My target audience will vary as all offices have such a wide variety of equipment. (In our office the edit bays are great but our sales staff have slower than molasses in winter PCs) As each potential sponsor will hit the site I offer them the link to QT for PCs. Thanks for all your input. Kind Regards, Chris K.

On my website I have some 1 minute samples. I am using Flip4mac settings for WMedia as I thought it would be easiest for users. As I look at my 1 minute examples on my website, I ponder….why does it take so long to download and start running?

It seems that the porno sites out there have it down in regards to video clips… they are very quick to downoad and start running right away.

So, what are the best settings for 1 minute clips? Quick download and fast start.

Input would be appreciated!! Good or Bad.
