Is it possible to add multiple clips to a sequence as a stack so that they are lined up in time, but layered so that each clip is on its own track? I know how to do this manually, but it seems like a feature that should be automated somewhere in Premiere.

No not like a multicam. Like I have 8 audio clips that are stems to a song, and I want to be able to automatically stack them to 8 audio tracks so they are in sync and I can quickly enable/disable them. I know I can create a nest/subsequence. But even in that subsequence I have to manually move them to each track to layer them. In Photoshop there is a script to “load files in a stack” which is the same idea.
