  Black bars appear on footage

  I capture MiniDV tapes and the footage has the right aspect ratio and looks fine when captured in Premiere Capture and also looks fine when played through Quicktime Player and default finder viewer. However, when viewing the footage in VLC or Premiere Pro black bars are added to all the footage. I don’t want these to be there especially since they aren’t shown while capturing in Premiere Pro.
