    Hey there,

I am currently researching whether a DAW control surface (like the faderport V2) could help the way we do audio mixes in Premiere Pro and later also Audition. The specific question I have is if a fader on a control surface can control and set clip level (of a selected clip) or if it can only automate by recording at the track level. We do most of our audio levels on clips instead of track automation.

(we work by changing clip enveloppes, not track enveloppes, see above link)

We mainly do our audio at clip level, since a lot of edits are still bound to be changed after review, which is why track based automation usually is no good fit (picture lock likely does not exist). If the fader on say a faderport device (MACKIE) only controls the track automation, then it is likely not useful for us. Anyone out there using DAW surfaces and having experience with this?

I am facing the same issue! Love adobe audition but really want to use a physical fader to control clip envelope, not track automation. Have you found a solution?
