Hi, I need some advice on an editing computer. I am thinking of either upgrading one of me and my brothers two computers or buy a new one for video editing. I am not really a computer guy and my knowledge is abit limited around the subject.

I use Adobe After Effects and Premier Pro CS6 very much. Although I can’t work with very big projects because both of my computers can’t handle it. It gets very laggy when editing after a while.

These are the specs I gathered from the two computers:

    Computer 1:
    RAM: 16 gb
CPU: Intel Core (TM) i7-3370 3.40 Ghz , 8 cores
    Videocard: Nvidia Gefore GTX 670
    Motherboard: Asus P8Z77 – VLX

    Computer 2:
    HP Envy 700 pc series
    RAM: 12 GB
CPU: Intel Core (TM) i7-4790 3.60 Ghz , 8 cores
    Videocard: AMD R9 270
    Motherboard: HP 2B36

I don’t know much but computer 1 works better for editing and produces less lag than Computer 2. And I realize 12 Gb for editing is quite low.
So I am considering buying a new one or perhaps upgrading one of these. But I don’t really know what to upgrade expect the RAM.

And does anyone have any tips on a good editing computer. My budget is around 800 – 1000 dollars.

    Anytips would be very appreciated!

Hard to say. What are the specs of the video you are editing? File type, Codec, Image size?
