  • Pin video clip to a track in the timeline

From my understanding and previous experience of thing:
To place the video and audio portions of a clip into tracks you specify, drag the video portion to the destination video track. Press and hold Shift. This will pin the video portion to the specified video track. Continue holding Shift and drag downward past the bar separating video and audio tracks. Release the mouse and release Shift when the audio portion of the clip lies over the destination audio track.

However, now this doesn’t work (for me). When I press shift while holding & dragging, the clip jumps back to its original spot in the timeline, and does not pin to the specified track. When I drag it to say V3, then press Shift and try to move the audio, the video clip just goes back down to V1 when I move my cursor down to the audio portion of the timeline. The only way I can change tracks is to move the clips up/down prior to moving them elsewhere in the timeline. It’s not a disaster, but it’s inconvenient and more time-consuming that it used to be.
I know this worked before, but it’s not working for me now, and I’m going a little crazy! Any thoughts?

    Running Premiere 12.1.1, Mac OS

    Thanks in advance!

    Awesome! Thanks so much

For mac, it seems to be Cmd+Shift instead of Ctrl, but still, it works!
    Thanks again
