  • Balancing Right & Left Audio Channels for MTS Video Files

Posted by Edward Gilman on April 25, 2018 at 3:34 pm

    Hello,

I have a bunch of MTS (MPEG Transport Stream) video files and the audio levels are not balanced for Right & Left Channels (see MTS File Format Audio Imbalance image below)
The sound is primarily just coming out of my right speaker and I can barely hear it in the left.

What’s the easiest way to balance the R & L channels so I can hear them balanced in both speakers?

    Thanks!
    Ed

Looking at the image it appears that both channels are exactly the same, but the left is lower than the right – basically a mono track. The easiest way is to apply the “fill left with right” effect. You should find that in your Audio Effects list.

or import/link with audio settings as individual mono tracks (before editing into a sequence.

Preferences\Audio\Set all options to MONO. Then link/Import files. Then place into SEQ/Timeline.
