  • Copy layers to new composition and retain layer names

Posted by Nelpiece on August 21, 2006 at 11:28 am

    Hi,

I currently have 60 layers with a different .jpg on each layer. The layers are named 2_L_S1, 2_L_S2 etc as this is my way of identifying each layer. When I try and copy some layers to a different composition, the pasted layers take on the name of the .jpg assigned to that layer eg, 01.jpg, 02.jpg etc. How do I copy layers to a different composition but keep the name of the layer from changing?

    Many thanks.

In the new composition, did you click on the “source name” header at the top of the timeline above the layer names? (sorry, I’m not at AE) Clicking on that button toggles the display between “source name” and “layer name”.
