  Timecode synchronize matches to incorrect point and when manually syncing the Audio/Video, It desynchronizes over time

  Hi Everyone!
  I’m Assistant Editing a feature length Documentary shot mostly in North America but the last drive I received was from the Netherlands and I’m having issues with Incorrect timecode synchronization. Even when I resort to syncing by clap marker – my audio and video will de-sync gradually over time which is a big problem on a project this big!

  at first I thought it was a NTSC/PAL issue but the footage and audio seem to be recorded in North American standards (23.976 fps – 4800khz audio)

  I’m going to post my camera, audio source, and premiere sequence settings below.

  Are you absolutely sure that the External Audio was recorded at 23.976 as well.
  Download Wave Agent from Sound Devices and then drop these audio files into it.
  It will not only give you the Frame Rate but all of the embedded MetaData in these Audio Files.

  If they were not recorded at 23.976 then you will have to Sample Rate Convert them to the correct Frame Rate.

  I’m with Brent. Most likely you received wrong timecode on your audio. It’s tricky exchanging footage between countries with different standards. It’s possible they think recording 23.976 and 24 are the same and that small difference would account for tc drift over time, about 6 seconds per hour.
