OT – Vocabulary question
Hey guys!
I know this doesn’t really have anything to do with AE, but I have a vocabulary (or synthax?) question to ask to you all english people 🙂
Thing is, these days I’m doing my demo reel introduction (opening sequence of the demo reel itself) in AE. The opening will take place on a desk, with full of stuff (pencils, coffee, notepad, clips…) and the virtual camera will travel on the desk to reveal words…that will logically form a sentence. The sentence will have to be short and…why not, sweet.
I’ve started it, and it says…well…here’s the pict.
So yeah, it says, at the very beginning, COP (COP Entertainment, yeah, company name) presents (in an ink splat that I shot myself).
*Now, I have to say in 5 or 6 words maximum that I will present my demo reel… but since french is my native and everyday language I have a lot of trouble finding a short phrase that will say ” COP Entertainement present 2006 demo reel “? That doesn’t sound good, I mean, the synthax. I don’t want 2-3 auxiliaries and I’d like to keep the “COP Presents” at the beginning.*
Over the last few days I’ve made a list of what could be read in my opening sequence.
” COP presents his 2006 demo reel ”
” COP presents 2006 demo reel ”
…But, to my ears, it doesn’t sound well. Yes, no? That’s why my title says “Vocabulary question”.
So I was wondering if anybody could help me out a little bit?!

How about:
COP Entertainment
2006 Graphics Reel… with the second line smaller than the first. And “graphics” is optional — it could be left out.

Althought I’d really want to start the sentence by “COP Entertainment presents”, your suggestions were pretty good.
I’ll think about it, seriously.

I do not recall ever seeing a demo reel start with “Blah-Bee-Blah Presents…” Usually, that kind of fanfare is reserved for a movie or for when our pampered Persian cats enter the room. ;o)
If it were mine, I’d opt for COP Entertainment 2006 Demo Reel or something similar.

I’m with Steve Roberts.
Besides, if you are calling your company Cop entertianment, then don’t say “His.” It sounds unprofessional because clearly Cop Entertainment is a company of 1 – which is fine, but it sounds really wierd to say that A Company presents “his” reel – without saying who “He” is.

*Haha* Maybe the fact that I’m not good in english humor but I come here everyday on COW and I know how yikesmikes help others, I mean, we should give him a medal, *haha*.
But again, I did not see the point of his post. I mean, my thread was serious and I didn’t see the point of making a joke here.

It’s nothing to feel bad about, Justin. I wasn’t clear if you knew who yikesmikes was and if you didn’t, I wanted to point out what a great guy he is. Yes, humour often translates so poorly across language barriers. ;o)
