I’m taking an animation I made in AE and I want to cut it to sound in premiere for a 360 video for youtube. Youtube actually recommends a 2:1 version of 8K for max res 360 videos https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6178631?hl=en

I exported the video from AE to prores422 and it’s playable in finder (though it certainly struggles). But when I import that clip into Premiere, the source and program monitors show blank green. Meanwhile the thumbnail is fine and oddly the video thumbnail in the preview area works.

What gives? Is Premiere really lagging behind youtube at this point?

What are your computer specs? With YouTube, you have the benefit of the video playing on someone else’s machine (their servers). It sounds like a codec or graphics card issue on your computer.

Try turning the Mercury Playback Engine to software and/or update your GPU drivers.
