Can anyone tell me why this is happening in Premiere?

The raw footage looks like this:

Playback in premiere looks like this:

Exported ProRes file looks like this:

    Shot on a Canon C100.

Mac OS Sierra, AMD Radeon R9 M390 2048 MB

    Premiere CC (current update)

where are you screenshotting the RAW from? or the exported prores? premiere uses 0-255 sRGB. any video player that doesn’t match premiere is not using opengl api drivers. also, your gfx card might have settings called 16-236 or 0-255. vlc player can match premiere if you set its renderer to opengl. if you import the media back into premiere, does it change?

Thanks for your reply and apologies for my unclear statement of the problem. After a couple more hours of research I found that the problem was that Premiere was interpreting the .mts files from the C100 as interlaced. My sequence and previews were set to progressive of course so that resulted in the poor image quality in playback.

The solution was that I had to tell Premiere to interpret the footage as progressive and then everything was good.

Frustrating that Premiere doesn’t seem to work well with .mts files.

    Thanks again.

thanks for posting the solution. also, keywords ‘jaggies’, or ‘low quality’ would have helped. a small pic isn’t going to give interlacing away unless its blown up 800%. I only brought up the gamma issue because your screenshots have varying gamma. the window gets blown out. that’s not from interlacing.

Did you import the media or use the Media Browser?

Media Browser usually does a better job of figuring out how to deal with different formats.
