  Best Method to Split-Screen in PP?

  I’m working on a project in 2.35:1 ratio that’s primarily split-screen. Each half includes several layers and many masks in each shot. My project is 1920×817 pixels. My solution to easily do split-screen is to create one sequence that’s half the size of the full sequence (i.e. 960×817) and overlay it on the main sequence, moved to the left.

  However, for some reason, PP hates this. I can’t scrub through footage for a second without PP crashing. Event viewer shows the cause as GPUFoundation.dll which is a PP file and so unrelated to the GPU driver. (I’ve attempted every troubleshooting solution, including the Adobe Cleaner, rolling back GPU drivers, etc etc.) PP won’t crash if I : 1) turn off GPU acceleration in Project Settings or 2) click the eye icon on the embedded sequence layer to hide it.

  And so, my question is: are there any better methods to do a dynamic multi-layer split-screen in PP that don’t involve embedding a sequence?
