Standing Desk for Video Editors
Posted by James Nolan on January 9, 2017 at 10:08 pmAny great recommendations for a standing desk? Looking to get one where I can edit part of the day standing and part of the day sitting.
Many thanks!!

January 10, 2017 at 3:13 amI just saw a commercial yesterday for a product that’s perfect for you. You put your PC and monitor on it, and it sits on your desk, but when you want to stand up you can raise the platform. But of course this information is useless if I can’t remember the name of the product!! But at least it exists. Some creative googling might find it.

January 10, 2017 at 6:54 pmBought one of these over Black Friday
https://www.autonomous.ai/smartdesk-sit-to-stand-height-adjustable-standing-deskBase model is $249 + Shipping. If you have more than 2 monitors and other items on your desk now, you might want to bump up to the (70 X 30) $549 model. They even have a combo deal with one of their chairs so you can work your way up to standing more than a couple hours a day.
To save your feet while standing, look into the Topo Mat (https://www.amazon.com/Ergodriven-Not-Flat-Anti-Fatigue-Calculated-Must-Have/dp/B00V3TO9EK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484074411&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=topo+mat&psc=1)

January 11, 2017 at 1:49 pmI’ve been using a Varidesk for almost three years now and love it. The way you can raise and lower it really helps in the first few months while you’re getting used to standing. I used to be an iron-butt editor that could go for 10 hours straight. Now, if I sit for two hours, like watching a movie, I start to get uncomfortable. 90-95% of my editing is now done standing. The Varidesk well built and stable. Never had any problems with it. For the edit suites I’m in charge of, I’ve purchased 5 Varidesks so far.
Also, buy a little folding footstool to go with your standup desk. It helps you change your footing, resting one on the stool at a time, and gives your back a variety of positions to prevent fatigue.
