I have a video with OGG file extension. I want to edit the video using After Effects but it won’t let me. I’m guessing I need to convert it to another format but I can’t seem to find a program that will let me. I normally use VirtualDub for converting/compression but that won’t do it. I also tried River Past Video Cleaner and that wouldn’t do it either.

It appears that the OGG format is a Linux audio format. Check out this link:

Do a search on OGG and “format” and there will show some sites with converters that seem to be shareware. Good luck.

really? i thought .ogg was the standard file format for video captures from the new handheld cameras with harddrives on them (my friend has a jvc or panasonic with 30 gig HD and if I recall they were imported with an ogg extension)

the converter ( i searched in google: ogg to avi )

As for AE hating file types or lacking in file recognition, I have to dissagree, because although it does suck a little bit that AE loves uncompressed, quicktime and aiff files and hates compressed avi (divx, xvid to name a few) and mp3 (I had problems with radium codec),you have to give it props for still importing them, even if it doesn’t always work. Most high end compositors only import image sequence so… anyways my 2 cents.
