  • No playback from certain audio clips, RANDOMLY – meters show audio

    Hello-
I am working on a project off of a SAN 10GB/s network. While editing on it suddenly, and quite randomly, around half of the dialogue clips are not playing back. There is sound and playback on the music tracks, and THE METERS move reflecting that the dialogue is playing, but no sound comes out.

If I “RENDER AND REPLACE” then there is suddenly playback, but because some of the audio is time compressed I do not want to do that (destructively change the tone of the clip before the mix).

Does anyone know what could cause this? It shows all the media as loaded in the project. A restart did not help.

    Chap

Are any/all of them MP3 files? I would render out WAV files using Audition and replace the MP3’s in the sequence if you see a correlation between failure to play correctly and MP3’s.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2015.02 (as of 6/2016)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

I wish. No they are not MP3 files, they are actually high quality AIF files which we received from the sound studio where they were recorded, edited.
