  • After Effects 6.5 AND 7 at the same time?

Any one know if you can have both installed at the same time? I tried to install 7 after I already had 6.5 Pro installed, but ran into some plugin duplication problems. Am I just not doing it correctly? Thanks.

No problems here. As long as you have each version in a separate directory, there should not be any trouble. As for the plugins – make sure you have the right versions. There are a few plugins that needed updating for AE 7 but this affects their backward compatibility. You may need to dig out an older version of those plugins to use in AE 6.5.

Weird buggy thing on os X:

if both 7 and 6.5 are open at the same time, and you drag a file to be opened in 6.5, it does open there, but 7 comes to the foreground.
