MXF File Duration/Length
After multiple days of searching I still cannot find a solution to my MXF File Duration/Length problem when ingesting MXF files shot on a Canon XF300 into Adobe PP CC. At first I thought my shooter was double punching the record button on some very valuable action shots in the field, but upon further investigation I realized many of the clips’ lengths were stopping on even durations/lengths (example: 8;00 16;00 32;00). We all know that 40 out of 100 shots aren’t going to end up on an even number of frames. Media browser is my preferred form of ingesting clips, and I have tried re-wrapping to .mov through Prelude, but still the outcome is the same. I know the clips in question are in fact longer because I have ran them through XDCAM Transfer and the entire clips are there. Yes, I know I can run them all through XDCAM Transfer but were talking 26 episodes of footage with multiple cams. Please help with any input or experiences with this same issue! Thanks!!!

Hello David,
did you try to ingest your xdcam-files from the original card-structure through media browser – instead of using xdcam-transfer in between?
In days of FCP 7 it was a necessary step changing from mxf to mov, but Premiere works fine with clips out of the original card structure (copied complete to hd).Best, Jo

Thanks for the reply Jo! The folders are in their original structure, nothing has been changed except for being copied (full folder structure) to a workstation drive.

so, my next step would be:
– delete cache files manually
– reset preferences (press “alt” while program start)
– new project and new import through media browser -

Apparently I needed to empty the Media Cache Files folder a long time ago, there were 188,309 items in there totaling almost 250GB! Wow!
I have done all three steps and upon looking at Media Browser while in PP it still shows many short clips with even timecode (Basically same results as before so far).

Also as a side note, I have opened the files in question in FCPX and the complete files and duration’s appear perfectly. I have FCPX but don’t use it.
