  Bezier masks for simle compositing?

  Hi,

  It seems a lot of effects have bezier mask controls to limit the effect, but for some reason I can’t figure out how to make a simple bezier mask for simple compositing, like in After Effects. Can Premiere not do this? If not, it seems like a perfect candidate for a feature request.

  I’m still on CS6, so the CC version may have changed, but Premiere does not support bezier masks. Rather annoying, isn’t it? You’d have to do it in After Effects.

  Thanks, James. The weird thing is that CC does have beziers that you apply to effects – for example, you can bezier select a color correction or a blur, but…..you can’t composite with bezier it seems. Sometimes I wonder if these sorts of things are political moves – to make people still rely on After Effects. it just makes no sense.

  Simple compositing in Latest versions of PPro. CC2014xx…

  Use the Pen tool to create your Bezier masks from Fixed Effects such as Opacity.

  Easy as.

  Wow! Thanks Craig. That sure as heck isn’t obvious – bezier on opacity. I think a lot of people are going to miss that. It wasn’t even mentioned in Adobe’s latest classroom in a handbook.

  There is the Pen tool on many Effects in PPro but Opacity is definitely the one to use for simple compositing.

  Its kind of logical actually for a Mask /Matte effect and nice it is easily accessible on Fixed Effects

  But maybe Adobe could have made a separate Effect called “Mask” to make it really obvious though.

  Using the Pen Tool –
  Click and Drag on the point creates the bezier handles if anyone else ins unclear how that works. Ctrl and Alt allow editing the points.
