  “No codec could be associated with this sequence type”

  Hi!

  I’m trying to open a Premiere Pro file made on another computer in CS6. I also have CS6, but I’m getting the following error message:

  “This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.”

  Premiere is working perfectly fine on this computer with other files, and the file is working fine on the computer it was made on.

  I’m guessing it has something to do with either of these two codecs in the file, but I’m not sure.
  P2 1080i-1080p 50Hz DVCPROHD.epr
  Quicktime.epr

  Any idea how to fix this?

  Mac or Windows?

  On mac navigate to /System/Library/QuickTime

  Look and see if the codec is in there. If it isn’t, you need to pop it in there.

  Thanks for your quick reply, I’m opening it on a computer with Windows 8, I think the file was made on a Mac.

  Where would I get the codecs?

  Hi Ann,

  Thanks for the suggestion. I found the page and tried it, but it didn’t work. 🙁

  Here’s what finally did the trick for me:

  1) Create a new (empty) project file with your desired settings
  2) Go to file > import and select the Premiere Pro file that gave you the error (you can import premiere projects)
  3) Choose the option to select which sequences to import
  4) Select the sequence(s) you need
  5) Continue your work in the new project

  Probably, the only reason this worked for me was because the sequence giving the error was another sequence than the one I need, but it’s worth a try, because it’s a relatively simple solution if it works.
