  • Is It Possible To Replace a Footage with a After Effects Dynamic Linked Comp?

Because of dynamic links with After Effects working so slow, I started to think if I could pre-render the After Effects comps in low resolution first then import them into Premiere to work with the edits. And when I’m going to export the Premiere file, I replace all the low resolution footages back into the original After Effects comps.

Will this method work? Or are there different options to work faster in Premiere with dynamic linked comps? Because dynamic linked comps are just sooooooo slow.

Yep. That was the exact workflow that Dynamic Link replaced? The more things change. The more they stay the same!

Is there an answer to this — I’m very curious. I want to use the exact same workflow, but there seems to be no way to replace footage with already-created After Effects Comps.

It seems you can replace specific clip instances in the timeline, but I’m talking about replacing footage in the project panel and affecting all instances — similar to the “Replace Footage” command, except using an AE comp instead of a video file.
