computer recommendation for PP CC
I currently edit on Mac, but have several programs for which a PC is needed, and would like to experiment with using PPro on a PC. (The price of the new Mac Pro is daunting.)
I would like to upgrade my HP workstation (xw8200) to something more current, and would appreciate a recommendation for the PC workstation which offers the most bang-for-the-buck. There seems to be an enormous price premium for the most commonly-mentioned HP workstations (z420, z820). I should say: I am really tired of waiting for clips to render on my ancient Mac, so I’d like to buy a PC which would actually work well enough that I could switch to Windows.
Speaking of Windows: the HP website mentions “downgrade rights to Windows 7.” How does that work? I would like the best of both worlds: I’d like to learn how to navigate within the Windows 8 universe, because that seems to be the future; but I’d like to be as efficient as possible as soon as possible, which might favor Windows 7 (if only because I’m more familiar with 7).
I have a lot of material on LTO-3 tape, and my LTO-3 drive runs off an LVD-SCSI cable, so anything I buy would either need an LVD-SCSI port, or be able to accommodate a card which will do so.
Thanks for your insights.
