Adobe Premiere CS6 Streaming video
Help Needed!!!
We have a small production company that operates basically two days out of the week capture video. A total of 12 hours each day. During these days we are capturing live video segments/entries that range anywhere from 3-5-10 minutes each until our approximate 12 hour day is complete. The second day is the same totaling 34 hours of video.
We have a Canon XA10 HDMI OUT to HDMI IN on a Black Magic Intensity Extreme. Thunderbolt out on the Intensity Extreme to the Thunderbolt In on the Imac.
We are running Adobe Premiere CS 6.
When clicking the record button on Adobe, it will not start the record function on the camera. Everything we’ve been told this is not am option. So with just the camera powered on (not pressing the manual record button on the camera), we can click on the record button in adobe and adobe will begin to capture within the program. (No biggie the thought process is to get two big cards for the camera and let it run the entire time with no interruptions. We can use this for backup/last resort.) The next problem we ran into was the dropping of frames. Upon contacting Black Magic we did the speed test with there provided software. He said my computer hard drive wasn’t fast enough nor did I have enough space to save all the files . He suggested an external WD Duo 4TB dual thunderbolt drive as well as updated drivers for BlackMagic 9.9.3 and then the Mac OS Mountain lion (forgot version) which we did. So after reconnecting the thunderbolts and reassigning to the External drive, the speed test greatly improved. He said my drive needed to be a minimum of 7300 rpm which has todo with the read/write capture rate and why it was dropping frames. When I asked if Ram would help he said yeah but not for this problem, it would only prolong it Ex drops frames 1 min in. Now with extended Ram it’s dropping frames at let’s say 5 minutes in. (I do plan on updating the ram from 4gb to16gb ((4 slots/4GB each)) ).
Now without the camera recording at all, we have it just powered on and pointing to what we want to capture. We then open Adobe a Premiere and name our project EX New York 2014, then we press f5 to open then capture video window. Here we see wherever the camera is pointed. When we click record on adobe, adobe begins to capture a segment. After a 3 minute segment/clip we hit stop and the option comes up to save it. We rename the clip as Entry 01 and click ok. The saved file goes down into the left hand corner where you can scroll across and see the video. Then we can immediately start the next recording of a segment/clip and then name it. Adobe automatically defaults to A name of Entry 2 which is nice. Now here’s our problem(s)…from a separate IMac we access the Source Imac continually capturing videos. We access the Duo 4TB drive on this computer, where you see the project file name and then the files. When we go to copy the files over to this other Imac, it’s taking an extremely long time. We’ve noticed the file size is like 8GB on a just a 1 minute clip with a transfer time of 20 minutes.
All we are trying to do here is to grab specific entries and save then to this second Imac for the purpose of making and selling a DVD. This is not a major movie production so were are not looking for the best quality or Blu Ray but rather a happy medium of quality video that will work in any DVD player. (Would also like to use the I Movie program to drag a drop the video files to be played). We’ve been told to get a 802.11 AC router airport by apple to assist in transfer (3x times faster than the standard 802.11 n) wondering if there is anything faster that will work with apple? Was told bandwidth could he an issue??)
Was told that before looking at the transfer issue, the adobe files need to be rendered (?) in a certain Codec (?) that will work with I Movie when dragging the (happy medium/quality) files over. Is there away to render these clips without interfering with the next immediate entry that needs to be recorded? (Perhaps I need a more powerful computer that can multitask with a separate monitor attached?) Not sure about when we can render? Even tried to access the project through the network from the second Imac for burning the DVDs. I think we will still have the network problem bogging:slowing things down with the transfer rate.
Basically need a “ready for DVD file” that can be grabbed quickly for burn from my other Imac and that doesn’t take up a library of congress.
I know very little about how we should capture as far as settings and frame rates etc., to achieve this quality of video. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Wow! That’s quite a post. Since you use CS6, I’m wondering why you don’t just use Adobe Encore for creating DVDs?Thanks,
