Whenever I open a new project in PP 5.5 and drag clips to the timeline, PP prohibits me from using certain audio tracks. For example, it might try to make me put a b-roll clip with audio on V2 over another audio track previously laid down on V1. I feel I must be missing a simple setting that will allow me to take control of the timeline and assign tracks where I see fit?
This is making me a little crazy! Help!

    Hi John,

The default audio tracks are 48k 16-bit stereo, so if your source is something else then Premiere may need to create a new audio track for that clip.

    Thanks
