  • Getting clips into a timeline based on timecode?

Hi. we’ve got two cameras (Canon C300 and a Red Epic shooting MOS) that we were using to shoot an event. There was no common sync point, so what I wanted to do was have the hundreds of clips we’ve shot over the four hour event lined up on a timeline by time code, then I can drop a continuous audio track underneath and sync everything that way. I can’t find an efficient way of doing this, except for manually copying and pasting a single clip’s TC into the timeline to align the playhead then dropping the clip in. (As I said, I have hundreds of clips so you can see why I don’t want to do this)

I thought about using the Create Multi-camera Source Sequence, because it has a sync to timecode feature, but it just puts every single clip onto a different camera angle. On the Adobe page talking about the multi-camera feature it says “You can add more than one clip per track to accommodate camera stops” but I have no idea how to get that to work. At least they’re synced by timecode now, so I would have to go through the multi-camera sequence and select each camera angle as they appear.

    Your thoughts?

    Edit:
I figured out that if i just double click on a multi-camera sequence, it’ll open it up into a new sequence where all the clips are synced and separately laid out like I want, but they’re still all on separate tracks. Is there a quick way to consolidate everything onto one Video and 2 Audio tracks from there?

Hey Matthew, did you ever figure this out? I am trying to do the exact same thing. When you have a minute, I could really use some tips: 918-855-1504. Thanks! Dakota Adney
