  Vidcap decent but display (& output) from PPCS6 or AE6 shows monster artifacts.

  First off, thanks to all who get back to me on this. Your input is appreciated.

  So… I capture (23.97 fps at 720×480 to MPEG-4 .AVI) from browser playback a few seconds of a video and it looks decent in VLC Player. But when I bring it into PP, seemingly regardless of sequence settings (I’ve tried several — HDV, DVCProHD, DV-NTSC) and then play it back, it shows JPG-type artifacts. Export carries this poor quality through to whatever I send it out to.

  I’ve upped a screencap showing an A-B with VLC and Premiere. Check out the text, especially the black text.

  What am I missing?
