  Issues Importing Timecode with Canon 1D clips in PP 5.5 Mac

  I’m importing clips from a Canon 1D camera (1920×1080, 23.98) into Premiere Pro 5.5 for Mac and having trouble getting the timecode to come in as well.

  I’m importing the entire file folder from the camera (CameraCard1) containing folders which in turn contain all of the .mov and .thm files (which I’m assuming contain the tc info) and have gone through the Media preference tab in PP Prefs selecting the options that seem most appropriate but with no luck.

  I’ve looked into the EOS movie plug-in and it seems it supports FCP only. Really hoping there’s some way to get PP 5.5 to use these .thm files

  Do I need to transcode the 1D files through a Compressor-like program the same way I would have had to do for FCP? Would someone mind pointing me in the right direction, please? Can this even be done with 5.5 Mac?

  Sorry if this is a beyond-basics question. I did try to do some homework before asking.

  I should add that I really only need the timecode (which in my research I’m coming to believe will really only be time-of-day-code) so I can sync a handful of interview clips with audio dump clips from the camera which DO have some kind of code (that I’m also going to assume is time-of-day).

  If it comes down to it, I can eyeball sync in the timeline and merge based on in points I manually set. I’ve got a decent eye but I’m really hoping there’s a way to do this by the code.

  Any input would be helpful.

  The thm do nothing. Have you tried importing through the Media Browser? Also what 1D do you have? 1DX, 1D mk IV?
