  timeline (no sequences)

  why do I have a bunch of “timeline (no sequences)” Where are they coming from?

  Timeline and sequence are the same thing.
  Select File~New~Sequence

  Sometimes a new project will have a lot of empty timelines. Just double clic the one you want to work in and it will automatically open.
