I’m evaluating CS6 coming from FCP hoping to use it as my new editing system. For the most part I love everything about it, but why isn’t there a way for me to setup a custom keyboard shortcut for source assignment for specific tracks? This makes no sense to me and is such a pain in my butt. I don’t want to have to touch the mouse every single time I want to make an insert or overwrite edit on a track above the footage on v1.

Also why for the love of all that is good in the world can I not assign the same keyboard shortcut to related commands (aka toggle commands) like “toggle all target video off” & “toggle all target video on”. Please tell me I’m missing something here people!

    Thanks!

Yea I really like this program but the track patching needs a facelift for sure. You can however toggle all Target video on and off by mapping a custom keyboard for that command. Too bad source video can’t be customized beyond just on and off. It’s a great feature request topic!

Yeah for sure. I already have the target video individual tracks mapped to keyboard shortcuts, but it just makes me more unhappy that I have to use the mouse still so I just disabled them cause if I already have to use the mouse why trifle with a keyboard shortcut/mouse mishmash.

Same issue here. I feel like there must be a way. Can’t be an oversight… in FCP, it was a combo of keystrokes that would map tracks…

This is essentially my major gripe with Premiere. It’s almost perfect but this just seems to be forcing me to use my mouse to set target tracks. Is there a workaround or update I should know about?

Had my own problems with it- but found this solution on the adobe forum

    1) Set up source patching, right-click the Source Patching “column”> Save Preset. In the Save Preset dialog, select a shortcut from the Keyboard Shortcut control. Click OK.
    2) In the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog, find the shortcut(s) that you’ve associated with your preset(s) and assign shortcuts to them.
