  • Apply default transitions not working when applied next to AE Compositions

I’m kinda pulling my hair out with this. My default transition is Dip to Black, duration of 2 seconds, and centered at cut. When I select a bunch of clips in the timeline with After Effects compositions mixed in and apply the default transition, the transition around the AE Compositions is ALWAYS changed to 1 second, centered at start/end. And I have to manually go in there and change it to 2 seconds, centered at cut.

    Here’s a video describing it:

Why does it do this, and how do I get it to stop?

In order to place transitions the clips need handles.
An AE compositon clip does not have handles, hence the short transition.
When replacing a clip with an AE composition make the clip longer on each side before replacing so that when back into Premiere you have enough footage to make the transition.

How do you add handles to AE Composition Clips then?

Note that if I “force” the transition to Center at Cut anyway, the transition still works properly (ie. it fades out the previous clip, and fades in the AE composition).

So you can understand my frustration at not being able to do something that actually *does* work when I manually do it.
