Hey Creative Communities of the World,

I’m running into a weird Premiere problem that I haven’t seen before. Basically, the waveform graphic on the audio clip disappears after the peak file is generated. Since I’m editing audio and using the visual waveform graphic cues it’s getting much more difficult because I can’t see the waveform to edit by. If I zoom in very close on the clip the waveform does show up but its still hard to work with. Here’s the basic process:

-I import a video/audio clip and drop it in the timeline. At this point I can see the waveform graphic on the audio clip

-After a short amount of time it will generate a peak file for the clip and then the waveform graphic will disappear from the audio clip.

-There is an alert in the Events window that says:
“File importer detected an inconsistency in the file structure of [clip name]. Reading and writing this file’s metadata (XMP) has been disabled”.

Would the audio waveform graphic be included in this metadata and be disabled?

Any and all help is appreciated on this issue!

Not sure what’s happening, but you could try right clicking the audio section and choose Edit in Soundbooth – render and replace. Then in Soundbooth see if the waveform is visible and if it is, if should then be visible in your timeline. Hope this helps. Andrew

Cool, thanks a lot Andrew! That workaround seems to have worked pretty well and I can see the waveform graphic after I render and replace the audio clip. Kind of lame that I have to do this for every audio clip but it will definitely make the editing faster and easier so its worth it. Thanks again!
