  • Need advice on exporting to correct format/size

    Hi!

    I am totally new to his side of things as I am an animator and usually leave the post production/editing etc to someone else. But I have to get my movie to a client in this format;

    16:9HD 1280×720

I saved out the source animaion to 1280×720 directly from my 3D package (Maya) and it plays and looks ok. But as I have about a dozen animations i want to stick them altogether in one sequence in Premiere (CS4).

The problem is nothing seems to come out right nomatter what settings I try.

I go to export media and it shows the original movies as 1280×720 which is correct in the export settings window. However its the output that isnt correct.

None of the presets seem to give me the option to just save the exported he same as he source. When i go to Custom and set the Codec to DVCPRO – PAL it lets me enter my own width and height settings to 1280×720. But this looks very stretched when exported.

Is there a simple way of getting the exported video to be the same as he source? It seems simple enough in theory as I’m not trying to change the sizes or format or do anything fancy. I just want it to be he same. I cant work out whats going on.

    Any help greatly appreciated!!

    Hi Mike,

What are your delivery specs? If your client needs an uncompressed format then try the uncompressed microsoft avi setting from the pulldown then set your frame size to 1280×720. You could also use h 264 setting and again resize the frame size to match your sequence. Check the output window of the export dialog box to ensure that it is the same as your input.

Are you sure that your sequence size is correct?

    Hi Jake,

    Thanks for the reply!

It needs to be in 16:9HD 1280×720 in mpeg format.

I saved the source clip (5 second test) in the size i want the final thing to be in which is 1280×720.

All I want to do is get Premiere to spit out the same size/res as it went in.

So I set it to custom and have the output the same as the source.

The problem is it either creates letterboxing or sqeezes/distorts the final render – sorry i’m at work at the minute and dont remember what exactly happens.

By the way at the beginning when i start the project i choose the pal 1280×720 option. I dont know if that has anything to do with it?

    thanks

    mike
