HDV and lack luster Editing Work Station
I think this creative cow (me), bit off more cud than I can chew. = 0
I’m new to editing, since 9/08, and my hp desk top can’t handle HD/HDV, Help! Btw did I mention I barley know squat about computers? I repeat… HELP!
I bought the following computer long before the thought of ever doing video editing crossed my mind.
It’s an HP a1777c desktop, running Windows Vista Home Premium, w/ Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 CPU 4300 @ 1.80GHz 1.80GHz
Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
System Type: 32- bit Operating System
Display adaptor: NVIDA GeForce 7500 LEHe’s my dilemma. I captured some clips from my son’s H. S. graduation successfully, I thought. After capturing some clips, approx 45-55 minutes, I place a clip in the timeline to check it out. To my horror only 20-22 minutes showed on the timeline. Even worse at the of the 20-22 minutes the clip flickered rapidly from video clip to red repeatedly. Then it stayed RED in the preview monitor, for about 2 minutes till the end of the clip! If it isn’t the computer, (yeah right), than what am I doing wrong. Can someone please help a newbie?
If in fact I need to get a new editing workstation. What would be a good beginner/mid range editing system, that can handle HD, HDV etc? My Budget is $1800-$2500. Am I dreaming or is it possible?
I’m using Adobe CS3 Production Premium, a Sony HDR FX1000 Camera and a Sony GV-HD700 digital HD videocassette recorder.
Thank you,
Mel Torres
