  Editing in Premiere. Which format and codec?

  Hi, guys!

  I got many hours of footage that is .mov mpeg2 codec. It’s HDV.

  I have already read that mpeg is a delivery format, so to edit in Premiere and then do color correction in AE, then maybe go back to Premiere…I need to use uncompressed format, to have no re-render generation loss.

  Am i right?

  The main question is which format I should convert my footage to edit in Premiere, to store files, to color correct?

  So generally, what format and codec to use in work process?

  This is my first experience in editing, so thanks for understading and for your help!

  Video CODEC: Uncompressed (None)
  Audio CODEC: PCM WAV

  …assuming you have the drive space. Especially, as you will be doing a bit of post-processing.

  Decompress before importing into any editing apps. You may also want to split the decompressed clips so they are smaller than 10GB, or even 2GB.

  Just some ideas.
