  Can’t view video capture realtime

  Why do I get the “playing on video hardware” screen in teh capture window while capturing video? Can I watch the video while capturing? I capture all my footage to the hard drive and reviewing the video during capture is important time for getting ideas for scene selection.

  Try…
  Project/Project Settings/General…
  Click the Playback Settings button and uncheck ‘Play Video on DV Hardware’.

  If your footage is HDV it won’t show up in the capture window.

  One thing I did, and i’m a very newbie to Premiere (about 2 hours, still working out a few problems), is to hook up a tv to the regular video output of the vcr (or camera if that’s what you’re using)

  Just my thoughts..
