  • Cannot Playback Captured Video in Premiere Pro

First off, let me tell you that this is my first leap into video editing and Adobe Premiere Pro. I thought that I had successfully captured video to my project. However, when I try to playback the video within Premiere, nothing happens. The monitor stays stuck on the first frame of the video. It won’t play, but I can track throughout the video to individual frames. Does anyone have any ideas? Below are my system’s specs.:

    Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz
    2.00 GB or RAM
    50 GB Hard Disk Space

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m not really sure what might cause that, but we’ll take it one step at a time.
What version of Premiere are you in?
Did you capture through Premiere as DV or HD? Maybe it was an MPEG capture? Or, did you capture outside of Premiere? I can see there possibly being issues with MPEG playback.
I usually recommend people open one of their source files with GSpot so we can know what CODECs are being used…

You would look for the Audio codec and the Video codec name.

I assume you’re trying to playback from the timeline, as opposed to previewing a clip in the editing monitor?

Sorry I don’t have a straight answer for you, we’ll just look at this like a troubleshooting thread:)

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. The video captured was directly from my camcorder (miniDV). Everything played fine while capturing. I just can’t replay in the Edit Monitor or Timeline. Thanks again for your help!
