Please bear with me…I have looked at the manual as well as the Premiere Bible and haven’t found the answers yet…
My full time job has me working with Final Cut so that’s where I’m coming from.

    1) Is there a quick way to add both a crossfade and audio dissolve at the same time? Right now I am dragging each effect to the timeline separately.

    2) Is the A/B editing workspace gone in Premiere 2.0? I haven’t been able to find it.

    3) Do I always have to create a new title or is there a way to modify one instance while leaving the others? In final cut you can copy and paste one title throughout your timeline and then change each instance as needed while leaving the others unchanged.

    Thanks for the help!

Regarding Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. I have Windows XP OS. My camera is a Sony 8mm digicam. I’ve done several editing projects successfully, in Pixela, the software that came with my camera. However, I’d like to be able to utilize plug-ins for effects and deinterlacing, which Sony’s Pixela does not support. I downloaded a trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro
CS3 but was unable to import any files to that program. I got an error message saying that file was an unsupported file format. The files I attempted to import were mpeg. I read somewhere that Adobe supports AVI files so I used my video converter software to change the format from mpeg to AVI and the audio was missing. Since there was no sound I didn’t attempt to import it to Adobe. What can I do to get my 8mm tapes to Adobe so I can take advantage of all the extras Adobe has to offer?

Mike. I don’t have the program in front of me at the moment, so I’m not sure about question #1.

#2 – I believe the A/B editing workspace is toast. In earlier versions, the A/B was used just so you can add transitions. Now you add the transitions between the clips even though they are laid end to end on the same track. As you click and add the transitions, the cursor changes to the transition tool. It is telling you it will add the transition so it is at the beginning, middle, or end of the cut.

You can expand your Effects Control Panel using the wing button on the upper right, its actually called the “Expand Timeline View” button, and it is essentially an A/B workspace, very easy to understand. Shows you how much the clips are overlapping, how long your transition is, where it starts, and if there are repeated frames.

#3 Look at the buttons in the top left of the Titler window. There is one there that is called “Create New Title from Current Title”. If you click that, you will be asked to give you new title a name, then a new title will be created exactly the same as the one you were just working on until you modify it, and the original will be saved.

I actually use this feature in a tutorial I posted on YouTube:

I have Adobe Premiere 5.0 … The timeline window title bar is hidden under the menu bar! How can I move this window?

    Thank You.
