  Letterboxing

  Is there a way to just lay the two bars over my footage without scaling it down to 16:9?

  Sure. Create a new video track above all your other tracks. Create the bars in the titler, or better yet use Photoshop- save as a PSD file to make sure you get alpha for the center section. Then drop the bars into the new track and stretch it across your whole timeline.

  Am i wrong or we can apply transform, crop, top=15% bottom=15% and have the same result?Thank you
