  its FAT32 and my C: drive is about 20 gigs, but I only have about 400mb space left.

  Does FAT32 mean that I cant export a file that size to my external drive?

  FAT32 is your file system which stores file system information in 32bits of data. If you are trying to export something to a external hard drive, make sure it has the same file system. Almost all new hard drives are NTFS not FAT32.
