I’m a final cut pro user, but I am trying to help a friend out with a question we can’t seem to find. i did search the forum. If this is answered somewhere I would greatly appreciate the thread. He is running 6.5 and can’t seem to capture more than 10 minutes or so. I am assuming it has to do with the Fat 32 2GB limit, but I am not sure why…. Any help greatly appreciated as he is trying to do this editing for his church.

Thanks millions, you cow and calf folk are the best.

The limit on FAT32 is actually 4 GB, which should get you about 18 minutes of DV video. FAT16 has the 2 GB/10 minute limit. The only way to get beyond those limits is if he has WinXP or Win2k, then he can convert the drive to NTFS.

Another possibility: is your friend using a capture card? Some Canopus cards have a built-in 2 GB limit. There’s an option in the Canopus settings to get around it- it’s something about “reference files” if I recall.
