Premiere Pro urgent HELP needed
Hy all. I’m new here, and I have a big question. I have a problem with Premiere Pro 7. When I import my compressed(DivX 5.1 Pro) DV footage and edit it with Premiere, after I export to DVD after an hour everithing becomes black, but the sound plays normally. What qould be the problem? Should I recapture all my footages again from my cam to the HDD and edit without compressing first? The problem is I’m editing a wedding and I want to finish it till Saturday. What to do? Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Don’t use DivX.Sorry for the repetition, but it’s a serious point to make. DivX is not an editing codec. It’s a delivery codec and is not made for editing, and Premiere Pro can’t handle it well.
Your best option is to recapture your footage in Premiere Pro. NEVER recompress your footage after you capture. Edit using the original files. This is both for the purposes of quality (you lose quality when you recompress) and compatibility.

As a general thumb rule, NEVER use highly compressed footage inside Premiere Pro, otherwise it will have problems.
Some highly compressed formats are: DivX, Xvid, MPEG (can be used with mainconcept codec) and so on.

Thank You for your feedback. Last night, after I posted this, I recaptured all my footages to the 120 Gb HDD. I compressed the footages, because I had a 80Gb HDD, and did not have too many space. Now all my problems are solved (i think), because I bought a 120Gb HDD. By the way I like this site, it awesome.
