  What codec should I export my film as?

  Hello!

  Im sending my new short film to filmfestivals and it’s great! Except for the codecs. I should say that I work on a Windows computer and have had alot of trouble with screening my previous films on a Mac, the image gets so so much darker. The filmfestival asks for a QuickTime file in ProRes 422 . So what is the Windows equivalent of that? Im a bit worried that the image will be to dark when they screen it.

  I tried export it as animation, it will keep the quality, but the file size is around 38 GB, so it lags a little bit on my computer but I hope a film festival can screen it without problems.(??) Any tips?

  my best advice is ask the festival what they want. they are usually very specific about the entries and won’t accept a wrong format.

  that being said, the pc equivalent is DnxHD. The upside is, if you render it with AE’s Rec. 709 LUT utility profile converter , it will look perfect in youtube.
