Got a new computer set up to finish a project and just purchased a good secondary monitor.
It will be here in a few days and have one basic question about setting it up.
We got the ASUS PA328Q from Amazon.

The project is a mix of going between AE and Premiere Pro. The entire project is in 1080p. This monitor supports 4K resolution. If I set it up at 4K as a secondary display, would it effect how Premiere and AE display it as a video preview? Would it be “up rez’d” and pixelated? Would it display better than if we had it configured at 1080p resolution on the monitor?

Unless you are editing 4K, use it for your desktop.

Ok. That doesn’t entirely answer my question.
It is already configured to be a secondary monitor. Curious about setting up the resolution for this monitor to be 1080p or 4k as a secondary monitor and if it will effect the display as a preview monitor for editing.

You want to see your video without any distortion, that means seeing your preview pixel to pixel. Ideally that would actually be a broadcast, monitor as regular TV screens are nearly impossible to calibrate.

That also applies to After Effects where your preview at 100% will only fit half the screen), upscaling in AE will just look awful.

So, I would definitely use the 1080 monitor as preview. That also gets you additional real estate on the desktop which is really useful.

    Ok. Thanks.
One last question. Not sure if it really matters on this setting.

The AE project is set to 16bpc. The monitor is set to display at 8bpc. There is no 16bpc setting for it. It goest from 8,10 and 12. Does that matter when displaying a 16bpc AE project on a display setting at 8bpc?
