    Hi,
I’m making rolling credits by laying out the text in Illustrator, then bringing the file into AE (7.x) and rendering out to QT. A few questions….

My show is PAL 16×9 Anamorphic. Should I be laying out my text in Illustrator at 1024×576 or 720×576?
In the past, I made my rolling credits in FCP. I was using 15pt type and it looked fine. But if I make an illustrator files at 1024 wide, the 15pt type is too small. I would have to move up a few point sizes… Not sure what I am doing wrong here..

Also, should I be able to import the Illustrator CS2 *.AI file directly into AE7? When I do, I cannot see the text in AE, even after trying all the different Matte settings. If I export an EPS from Illustrator, it works fine.

How do I get the smoothest possible rolling motion? I’ll be sending this out to FCP 10bit Uncompressed. Are there any settings I should be applying in AE?

Also, someone suggested leaving any blur or white level settings to FCP. I’m curious what others recommend for these settings. The output will go to PAL DigiBeta projection at Film Festivals and also to DVD.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you….

Well, I answered at least one of my own questions:

Turns out I do need to start out with a 1024 width in Illustrator (I should know better, as this is how I would do a graphic in Photoshop as well…) Had to go up to 24points for the font size. Using Helvetica Neue, which gives a good result.

Still cant get my Illustrator .AI files direct into AE though, and the other questions still stand if anyone cares to help.

    Thank you…
